Tell me about Brazilian Blowouts...
You may or may not have heard about the Brazilian Blowout treatment, but I'm here to tell you why this is the best service you can do for your hair this Spring.
What is a Brazilian Blowout? It's an intense, deep conditioning treatment that uses amino acids (not Keratin) to create a protective protein layer around the hair shaft to eliminate frizz and smooth the cuticle. End result? Silky hair that is easier to style, and has a barrier around each strand, protecting it from those pesky high humidity days. I always recommend doing this treatment when the Spring months start because we know April showers definitely don't bring good hair days.
Who can benefit from getting a Brazilian Blowout? Everyone. No matter your hair type, this treatment can make your hair more manageable in one way or another. Whether it be to cut down drying time, tame annoying cowlicks, or smooth out bangs that get the (what I call) nike swoop look once there's a drop of humidity in the air, this customizable smoothing treatment can help all.
What to expect during the service. The treatment takes about two hours to do properly. The stylist clarifies the hair, detoxing it from any buildup, and then proceeds to apply the Brazilian Blowout product throughout the hair, using small sections to make sure each strand is covered. Once the solution is applied, the stylist uses a boar bristle brush to do a thorough, smooth blow-dry, and then finalizes locking in the solution by going over the whole head with a flat iron. Once that is all complete, (and the hair looks perfect) we rinse. The solution is now fully in the hair, but we need to rinse out any excess chemicals. A conditioning treatment is applied at the sink, and then we finish with a beautiful, silky, long lasting blowout. There's no down time once the treatment is done, you can go about your day as you normally would!
How long does it last? The Brazilian Blowout treatment stays in the hair for about 3 months, depending on how often you wash your hair. You definitely want to make sure to use a sulfate free shampoo, preferably one that is recommended by your hair stylist. Unlike some keratin treatments, you can style and wear your hair any way you choose. Putting it up in ponytails or using a curling iron will not affect the treatment in your hair.
Common misconceptions. This is NOT a keratin treatment. You will not wake up with your hair pin straight each morning. The Brazilian Blowout is NOT a relaxer or Japanese Straightening Treatment. Unlike relaxers, after about 12 weeks, the client’s natural curl pattern returns without a line of demarcation from new hair growth.
